We've been going through some old family photos this week (my daughter's put up over 100 on Facebook already).

But this one caught my eye.

This is a picture of the employees of the Milliwatt Electric Blanket Factory in London in the early 50s.
That's my Mom on the left (By the way, Mom kept in touch with most of these ladies for over 50 years).

So.....what's the car? Guesses?

It's a Ford Zephyr Six Mk1, 1951-55.

And by the way, film and TV costumers would do well to seek out photos like this, as it's how people really dressed. We forget how swiftly fashion moves... Well spotted, Nial, any more to show us?

Excellent!

I wasn't sure what it was (and it does have a look of early Triumph sedans...but I knew it wasn't one of those).

Here's a photo of an early Ford Zephyr Six (below...thanks to Google).

I'll look for more cars....we're still going through many old photos.

I have an extensive collection of old photos, but mostly photos I've had to acquire since our family collection is rather sparse... I've talked to old photo vendors and other than old photo collectors, their other main clientele are drama folks trying to re-create authentic outfits... A sampling of some of my stuff here, and I have plenty more I haven't even gotten around to scanning yet... https://www.flickr.com/photos/sherlock77/sets/1142248/

One fairly recent acquisition that I just love! And I did have to pay a fair bit of money for this one... It's a large print...

Another recent favourite...

It's a giant cigar, but I suspect it's just a prop, so much fun isn't it? When I spotted this one I just had to buy it!

It's the famous view up the middle of Banff, even many who have been here as tourists will recognize it right away...

I have to dig out an old post card my parents bought me. It was from somewhere in New England or Upstate New York in the mid-1950s, and shows a scenic overlook. Several vehicles are visible, including a Healey 100. Interestingly enough, the 100 is white or yellow, and with red wire wheels. I'll post it later.

Well done Roger... it's actually a Velox, but since they were the same car with different levels of comfort, I'll give you that. I'd love to have one now. There is one in a field, by a neighbouring village here, but I've never seen anyone there to ask about it. I've always loved the shape.

I always thought there was a lot of Ford influence in that body style.

I was going to write Velox, but changed to Cresta because I thought only Crestas were two-tone. Just goes to show that memory isn't what it was!

That was my first thought too, Doc. I thought Ford Consul(sp?)

My impression is that Vauxhall got a preview pic of the 1957 Oldsmobile from Uncle GM and liked it so much they scaled it down to 3/4 size! It's way sleeker than the corresponding Ford, but in 62 the situation was reversed as Ford got the mega-glam Mk3 Zephyr and Vauxhall got the 62-Impala-a-like PB Cresta.

But, that's just my opinion, styling is extremely subjective and I've always thought the PA was easily the best shape on my side of the Atlantic; never been bettered, before or since.

Should I duck now?
