Stopped in to say hello to Matt Bakes the other day. You may know Matt as the proprietor of Triumph Rescue or British Wiring.

Spotted this little baby in a corner of the shop. I had never seen one up close. Kinda cute!!!

Looks kinda like a Berkley. (sp?)

I thought the same.

Yeah, Berkeley.

John C. (coldplugs) here at BCF is a Berk owner and has lots of stuff about them on his "coldplugs" webpage.

Go ~HERE~ to view it.

I saw a absolutely perfect one a few years ago at the Moss Motors Britfest.

If you look at the Grassroots magazine website, you will see they are building a Berk with a super-bike engine. I think they are calling it the "Berzerk-ley" (or something like that).

My first thought was that it is a Sabra, the little sportscar built in Israel in the 50s and 60s. They look very similar to the Berkley and the two cars are easily confused with each other. The Sabra had a 1.2L engine of English origin (Reliant, if I remember correctly!).

All the Sabras I've seen have those ugly chevron bumpretts...

(And a bit smaller grill opening)

Nice looking cars but that would be the first thing I'd pitch.

:iagree: But the older ones looked very much like the Berkley!!

This is funny.

When I went to that Moss Motors Britfest a few years ago, there was a Sabra parked *next* to the Berkeley that I saw (I guess they were parked in the "oddballs" section of the show....I recall there was an SP250 in that section too).

I'll see if I can find a picture.

Found a picture of one w/o the bumpers...

Not bad

Fred.
I name it Fred.

I was fortunate to see a Sabra once, during my time living in southern Ontario... Last I heard (a few years ago) the owner was trying to sell it... Photo:

Most of the Sabras used a 1700c.c.engine (I think)
out of a Ford Consul.

The last Sabra I saw was being used as a kindergarten play toy. After the manufacturer figured out that they were having a hard time selling them, they took a few body parts put them together and let the kiddies have a good toy.

It's a Berkeley. Someone altered the headlights slightly.

Nial: The owner of the Berkeley you saw at the Moss event also owns a Sabra so he may have owned both cars you saw.
