Wow, that rear-end IS an odd duck.
 
Wonder why the builder didn't skirt the front wheels? Would have given it a cleaner look. The back end leaves a lot to be desired, especially with those stupid light extensions. :flush:

Are you kidding it is awesome!!!! I agree about skirting the front wheels. I am sure the real reason for the back end was to accommodate the propeller, but, It has got such a "space Race" feel to it - and, if you are going to have something outrageous - make it outrageous!!! :grin:

I missed the write up from John's link first time around.

But When all else fails: put a VW engine in it. (Read on: Interesting how things come full circle sometimes)

"The Fascination prototype was built in Denver. It originally had an airplane propeller in the rear, but one failed during a demonstration. Propellers were abandoned and a Volkswagon engine was installed."

though I have my doubts if it was ever really a propeller driven car, as no other source I checked mentions it:

What did make the early models (from '37) advanced was the 57 bhp engine that claimed over 40 mpg.

however, in one article it was mentioned that in '37 The Germans may have modified the airomobile engine design for the first VW's. And the horizontally opposed air cooled engine design spawned concepts for airplane engines.

"The Airomobile car was unsuccessful, but the engine was enlarged and developed further for light planes (apparently to the 4AC-150) by Doman-Marks."
