So in a week I will be starting the hardwood floor.
So Boss, did you buy one or rent one.
HF has one for $160.00 or should I spend the extra money and get a better one.
The extra should be about a C note more.

I'd buy - I don't have a HF floor nailer but, do have a framing nailer which has given great service. rent gets very expensive very quickly. You should be able to get at least a 20% off coupon if you sign up for their online e-coupons. I might even have one I can forward you.
 
Buy a good one, use it at your leisure, then sell it for half price. You will come out ahead over rent. As stated, rent will get expensive real quick.

When I did my first room (study) I rented a manual nailer for $25/day. I used it for three days, so it was $75 and my arm felt like a wet noodle when I was done. So, since I still had several rooms to go, I decided to buy the Harbor Freight air-powered nailer (you need a decent air-compressor). I knew I would spend more than the cost of an air-powered gun on rental costs, so I decided to buy it. I bought it on sale for $99 so it was a no-brainer for me. Even at $169 I'd still buy it if I had it to do over. I've used it for a large living room, a hallway, and a back bedroom and so far it has help up well and done a great job. Once I get the Master bedroom done I'll probably sell it on Craig's list.

Unless you're planning to do flooring for a living, the HF mailer is just fine.
 
dnk, ive rented and bought lots of those things over the years, in early oct. of last year even rebuild a brand new roof nailer for a shop that rents them, if you decide to rent i hope the place isnt a 2 hour drive for you.
 
My thoughts on a good used one. I don't know enough about them to tell if they are "good". Looked on CL and they still want an arm an a leg.
Think I found something on line that will work.

dnk, lets see, round trip limo to kennedy airport $340.00, round trip plane ticket $785.00, breakast lunch and dinner and snacks for two days..5 days if ya gunna "help" $180.00, labor... $...YIKES!... i just noticed you aint even got the carpet up yet. :cryin:
 
Has to sit in the house for a week. Bill, 1995, was my GREEN period.
The walls in the family room are the same green mixed with 1/3rd off white.
With a green and white berber.
The berber is in my office now and that was replaced with a green low nap about 8 years ago.

The air nailer is the way to go. BUT, there's nothing I could do to keep my back from aching! After cutting & nailing 2700 sf of hd wood, it took me three weeks to get my back to return to normal and about two bottles of Advil and that's with two helpers! Never again, not worth it to me. I'll pay someone to do it the next time, if there is a next time. :eeek: PJ

Also came with a compressor that is a step above my nail gun compressor.
I will sell the gun and my old compressor when I am done.
Next question.I can't remember If I am suppose to use SS nails or not?
