I have this badge on the Healey I just bought and was wondering if anyone could offer me any info on its history etc. I have heard that some badges are worth more than the car!!! Here's a pic of mine.

ive never heard of 'badges being worth more then the car'i guess it would depend on the condition of said car!one thing i do know about them though,is if you sell or 'give away'any badges, get your cost of postage in advance, unless your a philanthropist, keoke can explain this fact!!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif

I think that is damaging to my reputation Anthony, an besides you told me it was free!!!---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Still no picture I guess? People do collect car badges and some are worth quite a bit. Not sure if some go for super high figures though but some are worth hundred of dollars. Not seen thousands yet but there might be some.

Bruce.

my dear /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.giffriend keoke, just got your responce from my sending you the "dragon"thank you, your efforts are honorable,i got a picture from someone of your healy, please dont tell me you also live in hawai, ill kill myself! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Hi Anthony,
If Keoke lives in Hawaii that could explain why it's taking him so long to walk to your house. Dang, with that deep water, you can only take a couple of steps, then you have to come up for air. Bother!

Greg! You should not have told Anthony that I live in Hawaii /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif .Now just look at what chu have gone an done!---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

gregw, thanks for the pictures of 'the man himself'hes probably making a fortune towing around that 'gordito'toco trailor!was that him in the foreground or the backround?and were the heck did he get the hitch?the paint match aint bad either!

Hi Keoke,
I did say “IF” /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Anthony,
That’s actually not my photo. I was just forwarding it along. “The man” is center frame, blue shirt. I hadn’t noticed the Gorditos trailer until you mentioned it. You’re right, it is a good color match. As far as the trailer hitch, my dad made a bumper with ball to haul his drag boat around. Wound up burning a few clutches trying to haul the boat out of the water. I think DMH would have reprocessed the car if he knew. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Rusty--

Regardless of what its value might be it is an interesting and certainly unique badge. If you have learned anything of the car's provenance (first owner's name, etc.) you should see if he worked at a North American plant or if there was one nearby where he lived.

I and many other find the history of their cars to be quite interesting. In a few hours I am meeting Bud Weikert of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa. He was apparently a very active Healey restorer and racer and did my car for its second owner, the person from whom I purchased it. He tells me he has pictures of my car with all body panels off, etc. when it was painted in around 1995. He has not seen my car since so it should be an interesting experience for all.

Whatever, don't sell the badge--perhaps polish it up and touch in what look like the painted sections and you 'll have something very unique on your car.

On tonight's BBC (UK) Antiques Roadshow a Mickey Mouse badge from the 1930s was assessed. Even with damage it was worth ÂŁ800-ÂŁ1200.

Rather more (2-3x) than my "fully depreciated" daily-driver.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
