It ~looks~ to be a BMC unit, mid to late'50's something-or-other.

If it's in your pile o' stuff, shouldn't it be a Triumph? The tail mount would appear to be so but the bell housing doesn't look proportionately big enough.

That about sums it up, doesn't it? <grin>

We've all manner of bits laying about. Lord knows what all has been collected.... aircooled VW stuff.... Datsun Fairlady.... Model "A" Ford.....

Amazing.

Got to be there's a MOWOG, STANPART or EnFo ~someplace~ on it. I'm bettin' Standard Triumph.

You could think it's a TR2,3 or 4, but the later 3's and 4's had a long nose starter. The earlier units had a short starter that would fit into that bulge.
However, the case has the wrong shape for a TR unit at the bottom, and those "wings" or bosses for the clutch arm doesn't match TR units. Maybe more like a small triumph, but the spitfire and GT6 had ribbed bell housing. Maybe a Herald or even a Morris Marina. (Yes they used a 1275 with a spitfire trans.)
