Mystery steering wheel - help?

There are no numbers or markings of any kind on this wheel. Does anyone know what it belongs on? That square in the center seems unique - to me.

Just a guess, but it looks like it might be a "universal" wheel from back in the day, needing a separate mounting kit for each application.

Looks like the wheel in my Series I EType Jag:

Nope. Mickey hit it, IMO. Looks like a JCWhitless "universal" one from back-when. Order it with a hub to fit whatever.

Your E-Type wheel has no "dish" and specifically fits the telescoping hub mechanism.

Sounds reasonable.

Had to try out this avatar inspired by yours, BTW.... :smirk:

What they said. It looks REAL similar to what I have in my MG-TD replica.

Thanks guys! So......anyone have a universal hub for a 68 MGB?

It looks like a Lotus wheel, apart from the wood rim. The square hole, hole for horn wire, the dishing, etc., all look very familiar.
Lotus wheels have different mounting holes though. I suspect Lotus got their wheels from some generic supplier or tother, maybe this is one of theirs?

No Lotus wheel I ever saw was like that. The columns of Elan/Europa of the period were Triumph Standard (Herald/Spitfire) as original application. S-1/2 Elans had a wheel with holes in the spokes, S-3 spokes had an elongated cut-out, the later ones went to a padded wheel. Some Elevens had the similar holes in the spokes, too. But none I've ever seen had that "universal" look.

Yup... that's a later Europa, padded as I mentioned. Post '67. It has two less holes per spoke than Pete's and ISTR they were "Personal" wheels. Heard someplace they had some connection to Nardi. Cannot be certain, tho.

Roger, I must agree with you!

The center square hole and the corresponding other holes match several of the examples shown! Many thanks! And they did make a 15" dished 3 spoke wheel for an MGB! If I read the brocure correctly, they sold for 9L 15 when new.

NOW, to find that elusive hub and center......

Hmmm!! I forgot Lester!

Roger, NOW I'll need to yank th' wheels from the two Elans to investigate!

Oh, dear! I doubt it's worth the effort, really.

And Leston's name is much more bizarre then Lester.

Les Leston? I never knew that... I guess I'd change my name too.

I believe its a Formula wheel, was an option for Triumphs. I have one on my car. Now if I can just find a picture of it..

Found it!

Of course if you want to get rid of that thing, I can always use a spare!
