TR2/3/3A Mystery part

My TR-3A restoration is nearly complete. However, I have a part left (there are two of them) that I'm at a loss as to what it's for and where it goes. I remember seeing it from when the car was on the road several decades ago, but for the life of me I just can't remember where it belongs. Can anyone give me a hint? Here's a photo...

Those go under the front of the "tonneau rail" (aka elbow capping), above the dogleg. I'm not exactly sure why, maybe they just provide support for the capping at a point where people are apt to lean on it while getting out of the car.

What Randall said! They set up right like you have them on each side of the tub. You should see the drilled hole where they will fasten down.

I'm still a bit confused about how they are oriented. Any existing holes are now covered. Would one of you by chance have a photo?

In any case, it doesn't sound like they are absolutely necessary so I might just "lose" them.

Hi Folks,

I think (?) those little buggers do fit inside the "Rear Tonneau Cappings" & then "On Top" of the capping is a "Chrome" pcs for mounting a "Hard Top".

I may be wrong cause I`ve been wrong before!! :rolleye:

Those photos explain it perfectly. Now I see what Randall suggested about supporting the capping. I find myself leaning on that area when getting out and it does tend to sag a bit even though the cap is wedged in by the bolts that hold the soft top frame. I'm sure I will be able to get those installed without to much trouble. Thanks...
