Mystery Lexus??

Saw a white 4-door sedan parked in our club lot. Had something written in metal script on the left side of the rear of the car beginning with the letter S and angled upwards. Looked brand new. In front was a Lexus emblem below the top of the grille. I Googled Lexus but couldn't find the car. It looked very high performance. Any idea what it might have been? I won't know unless it visits the lot again. I should have memorized the script but forgot.

Exhausting all my leads and still no joy. Thought - would a Lexus dealer have the ba*** temerity to affix his name in metal script to the rear of a new Lexus - slanted upwards from left to right under the left taillight?

probably not but in my experience any number of Lexus owners would

Paul - in yesterday's email, you had written " ... Had a name starting with S written in slanted script letters across the left rear of the trunk - not straight printing like the Kia Stinger. I'm almost sure it had a Lexus emblem on the front. ... I'm almost sure it had a Lexus emblem on the front." Also, "...script slanting upwards left to right. "

Are you absotively posilutely *sure* it wasn't a Stinger?

Metal script, starting with S written in slanted script letters ...

Tom M.

I think the mystery is solved. Tom was right - it was a Stinger. What fooled me was the emblem on the front - the Stinger has what looks like a knockoff of the Lexus L rather than the word Kia like the others. Lexus should sue. I saw one tonight in the club parking lot - not the same year because the name Stinger was in straight letters across the back not slanted upwards. I'll check out the various years to clinch the deal.

More info on the Kia/Lexus. It seems Kia has alternate" logos and emblems for those who are ashamed of driving a lowly Kia - even if it's a Stinger, and they created a Lexus-looking logo that owners can put on to make people think its a Lexus! True story. You can Google it. I also assume they sell a Stinger script to put on the trunk, thus customizing your Stinker, er Stinger. I actually toured the lot of a Kia dealer down here checking out the front grilles but they all said Kia - no emblem. Doesn't say much for Kia/Hyundai.

I never doubted you - but that "Lexus" emblem had me fooled. I guess that was the point.
It was just a customized Stinger - like my 1952 Ford with a Pontiac grille.

Wow, that took me back a few years! I had a 51 Ford convertible with a Pontiac grill. Loved that car, but had to sell it when I went in the Navy. PJ
