TR2/3/3A Mystery Heel Panel Holes?

It's an ongoing adventure coming upon the odd unexplained holes. There are two holes in the heel panels indicated by the arrows below. They have cage nuts on the other side. Although mine was not so equipped from the factory, could they be for the optional rear seat?

Hello Bob,

I suppose its possible with just a hole for an eyebolt to hook on two belts, but in my case there is only one hole one each side, and with cage nuts (no large reinforcing washer possible). Hardly strong enough for a single belt anchor, much less an eyebolt.

Aren't those the mounts for the auxilliary long range petrol tanks?

Thank you very much, gentlemen; and thanks for the picture, Geo. I'm glad TOC's theory above isn't the case. Would have had to cut holes in the floor to be able to jettison the aux tanks!
