Mystery Healey Photo

Boy was I way off base! I guess I need to expand my library with a few more books.

Anyway, this was fun. How about another mystery photo?

...The year - 1957 or 1959? Who was the correct driver - Collins or Salvadori?...

[/ QUOTE ]

I just discovered this post - lots of stuff I didn't know. (I hope it's ok to butt in...)

Peter Collins died in 1958, so it wasn't '59 if he drove it. Donald Healey said the Collins drove the car at Nassau in "My World of Cars". There's also a picture of it (I think) in that book as it was in 1956 at the Earls Court show.

I consulted my friend Joe on this one. But he must be on holidays! I correctly recognised Roy Salvadori behind the Healey. Now I will cast doubt on the power unit! According to Geoff Healey in " The Specials" (page 163) the Ferrari engine was replaced with a 175 hp Austin six and Salvadori drove it in "the next Nassau races". That would be 1957.
Results were a second place & a DNF due to an oil soaked clutch.

Sorry Reid, I should have read all your answer before I jumped onto the quick reply!

Reid - Is this a trick mystery photo? or was the photo taken inside your garage in Portland?

No tricks; it's a legit vintage Healey photo. (I WISH that was the contents of my garage!)

No. 83 looks like one of the two streamlined Sprite Coupes developed for the 1965 Le Mans ...

Reid - This must be a true mystery photo? Or where are all the sprite experts?

With the lack of responses, are you certain this was not taken in your garage?

That was my question. I got a BIG response to the big Healey mystery photo, but I was disappointed at the lack of interest/response to the Sprite photo and took it down. I had posted the link to it on the BCF Spridgets board, the Spridgets Mail List (autox.team.net), and the Bugeye Yahoo Group. Oh well. If you're still interested, it was taken at the Bahamas Speed Week of 1965. Paul Richards is listed as the driver of the Sprite in the photo.

Reid - Sorry about that with the lack of sprite interest, I was getting to check my library for sprite stuff tonight.
How about some more early (1956 to 1959) mystery 100-SIX photos? What do you have in your collection?
Keep them coming!!! This is the year for the intro of the 100-SIX, especially the Longbridge - speedsters.
