I saw the other topic from vping about his finds and I thought I would post my find from this weekend.

I purchased the 53 TD and 73 MGB for pennies on the dollar. The guy just wanted them gone because he was loosing the barn.

COLOR ME GREEN!

Great find, Steve!

Green, green you say, gesh. How nice would that be.

I guess I should be encouraged that this still happens.
If it happened to you then it could happen to me.

How did you find out about these?

You know what they say about some guys come out smelling like a rose! Me, I always come out smelling like something else, if you get the drift!

The same way I found out about a lot of the cars I own, someone who saw one of my cars asked me if I would be interested in some car they know of and I say yes of course! It pays to drive your old LBC everyday, don't keep them locked up in your garage! Or do, then I will be the person they offer the car to. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I have to say this has been the best $750 I have ever spent. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

I can't say that I had that much luck, but just after buying the Healey of my dreams (my BT7), I was contacted by a fellow with a BJ8 who was selling for personal (and non-financial) reasons, and simply wanted out of the car what he had put in it. It was, to say the least, outrageously cheap for such as stunning BJ8. Perhaps 30% of what a car in this condition would go for on eBay. I quite simply got lucky! Here she is in my garage:

It weren't no $750, but I didn't do too badly!

How about a grand for the TD and you keep the B?

My hat is off to you!

My best "barnfind" was a 1952 black Arnolt Coupe, found just 8 miles away from me. It was pretty much "ready to go". Alas..I did not have the funds for that one at the time, and the car now resides in California.

I also "found" a 1948 MGTC a couple of years ago (one of my patients owned it). It needed a total redo...I offered $4000. He sold it for $8000...it then went to England for about $14,000....and still needed a complete redo!
