I posted some time ago about buying a Triumph TR250, it finally arrived after almost two months, Christmas, weather, and other circumstances delayed arrival.

More rust than I had hoped, but still fixable, rear fenders and right rocker are just pretty much gone, front of the car is pretty clean.

I am going to post a parts wanted for some decent rear fenders, hopefully somewhere close to the center of the country so I can just go pick them up.

Need to peruse the Roadster Factory catalog tonight so I can get in on the 20% off deal.

Good news is it started in the single digit temps when it arrived (needed a squirt of starting fluid, but still). Motor sounded good, pressure was good,but I will pull the pan and check the thrust washer play before running much if at all.

I know I'll get asked to post some pics, give me a day or two and I'll try to get them up.

I think that will be the epitaph for most all of us that like to fiddle about with these LBC's

I know how excited you must be...ENJOY! I say drive it every chance you get even if it slows your restoration. I drove my TR6 last weekend in 45 degree weather with fresh primer on the rear fender!

I think you can still get in on Rimmer Brothers UK sale. They have some parts no one in US has.
 
Congratulations, it's hard to wait for a new toy. I hope you love it.
 
The TR250 seems to be the darling of the Triumphs. Fix it right and you will maintain your investment and multiply your enjoyment factor. I'm jealous. Have fun.
 
Congrats! I personally believe that it's the best of the TR lot. But of course, I'm rather biased. :eek:)

Seats and guages and console good, everything else bad, will try to refinish the dash veneer all seems good, just the varnish or shellac all flaked off, floors actually pretty solid (yippy)

Engine runs with good oil pressure, no bad noises

TR4 trunk lid, no badges darn it, I have a straight rear bumper I got years ago, needs rechromed but should work

Can't see it on the pic, but the right rocker is bad, left appears good, but haven't jacked the car up yet

Bad rust on this one, don't think I will try to fix it, left rear has some holes in the top, but I think fixable.
 
I would think that the rest of the right rear wing is OK. They all rust out at the top edge first. So also check at the center trunk panel edges.

But that fender can be fixed if you bend and splice in a section at the top. New ones don't fit and this one already fits. It might just take less time to fix it instead of trying to fix a new one.
 
Thanks Peter, I have been back and forth about fixing it or replacing, if I go replacement I am sure it will be used rather than the new ones they want about a grand for!
 
With the cost of new, headaches of replacement, etc,
I'd go for a patch and paint. You might be suprised
the time you buy. Later, you'll know if you can't
live with it. You can always replace it. Quicker,
easier and cheaper, I think. The old line: Just
my two cents.
 
OK, you guys are starting to convince me, sheet metal and welding wire are cheap, and so am I, and so is my labor.
