On the new and improved Charmin: For you who don't use or haven't noticed not only is it 3/4 of an inch narrower it is no longer soft and kind to my butt and yes I got that super Costco size. Stuck with it for a while. I e-mailed P&G with comments such as crap under my fingernails (yes I did), to Charmin now looks crappy on my toilet paper holder, sending the balance of what is left to them for use in their executive washroom and spelled every but with butt. An example of my frustration with the new and improved Charmin. Below is their response. Really? Thanks for contacting Charmin, Judith. I’m so sorry you’re disappointed, and I’m sharing your feedback with the rest of our Charmin Team. You’re correct that we slightly decreased the width of our rolls. Although the sheet is narrower, this change allowed us to invest in some additional features and upgrades: • We added some fibers back into each sheet – so you have more fibers per square inch in the center “performance zone” where you need them most to get the job done.• The reduced width improves the flushability because being slightly narrower allows the tissue to clear the bowl and drain lines more easily. • The wet strength technology ensures the same wet strength as before but allows the tissue to decay faster after flushing. It’s important to know that delivering value is one of our highest priorities, and we work hard to provide the quality and innovation our consumers have come to expect. Because we appreciate your loyalty to Charmin, I’m sending you a money-saving coupon via postal mail. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for delivery. Thanks again for getting in touch! (Can't believe they would want to touch my hands. - my comment) Danielle Charmin Team " P.S. I do like their use of 'performance zone', guess it's more palatable than my butt.

Sounds like Charmin is on your (you know) list

What would Mr. Whipple think of all this?

Judy, you have no idea how much I appreciate your level of sophistication and your ability to be down to earth at the same time. Your hubby is one lucky guy.

P.S Will you adopt me?

... and I've learned a new term: "wet strength technology." :wink-new:

I kinda equate it to snow tires which are bought slightly narrower than regular tires so there is more weight per sq. in. in the performance zone for better traction.

Yep, I just noticed my roll is too short for the dispenser. :mad-new:

It is my understanding that toilet paper either does or will soon come without the cardboard roll in the center. It is an effort to save trees, not necessarily butts.

Maybe they could make the center roll out of rice paper. That way you could eat it when your done with the paper.

And here I thought the only solution to the problem was Option #1 and Option #2.

I was watching a show (How it's Made?) where they said the US uses 100,000 trees a year for toilet paper alone.

I knew you would all make worthy comments to my crappy frustration with the new and improved Charmin.
