My Stomach Will be Red Tomorrow!!

Great Pumpkin - R.I.P

Was out under the hood of my '79 Vermillion Red car getting it ready for tomorrow night's club meeting when I got soaked with hot anti-freeze!! The thermostatic fan switch popped out of the radiator...its little seal had finally gotten so old that it couldn't hold the switch in...luckily, I had another seal & switch on the shelf - its an old seal but in better shape than mine....I'll use it until a new one gets here from Moss.

Both car & I took a bath from the garden hose!

Love that car but its fighting me every step of the way as I get it ready for this summer - & I'm the only person who has ever driven it in its life!! I think its jealous because I've been spending so much time with my TD that's in the paint booth.

That, or since I fixed the broken clock it has to break something else!

Oh man!!!

Bloody "Otter" switches! I hate the silly things.

I got anxious this weekend and released the pressure onna rad cap, but kinda had warning... Minor discomfort for a few minutes. You just got FRAGGED by yer own CAR!!!

Got an aloe plant nearby?

Yep, she's venting her frustrations!

heh...

glad you weren't seriously injured by that thing!

Watch that talk DOC, we do not allow any of them switches in MG's. Course now if Tony had not had the otter one he would have been in big trouble HUH!---Keoke- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Oh no - you should never have fixed the clock! You always have to leave 1 thing broken on a LBC or it will find something for you.

Ain't that the truth! Today I went to set the time & broke the stem...clock's gotta come back out. $%#@

Plus, there was a small leak around the used thermostatic fan switch seal I installed y'day...so, I went to take it out & it broke in half - now I've gotta order a new seal...might as well order an upper radiator hose as well as I can move the wire inside the old one around.

Plus, when I took her out to get gas before all the above happened (well, I tried to set the time at the filling station), she didn't have enough power to get over 45mph! So, I brought her home & regapped the plugs (no carbon buildup or moisture) & checked the timing (she just doesn't want to settle down to 750rpms) to get rid of the small backfire &, hopefully, loss of power..guess I'll also order a new distributor cap & rotor & then try to figure out just why she's all of a sudden got no guts....she was running fine y'day before she blew her stack at me!

But, to teach her a lesson, I pushed my '67 GT nose-to-nose with her & put the battery charger on it..then, I told them both that whoever runs properly first gets driven most!

Finally, I walked over to my '74-1/2 GT & whispered to her that tomorrow I'd finish hooking up her new carbs, toss a battery in her &, if she fires up first, I'll go get her a license plate.

We'll see what the 3 of them work out. Guess I drive the Dodge truck to tonight's club meeting as I can't get the '67 GT out of the garage until the '79's radiator is put back together.

Is the clock a standard item in that year/model, Tony?

I do fancy an analogue clock, sometime, but it would require adding hardware under the dash: I've no room in the centre console.

Yes, from about '77 on.

Well, Moss overnighted the little rubber gasket for the thermostatic fan switch in the radiator to me & I got it installed y'day & got the fluids toped off....finished setting the timing this morning & took her out for a drive....now I just need to tweak the idle a bit, its still a little high....but she's back in harness & acting like she should....guess my threat of driving either her or the '67 GT this summer caused her to think twice!

Now I'm gonna take that working clock out & put the broken one back in since I can't change the time on the working one anyway!

When it gets to 6 O'clock indicated pull the battery cable...
wait 'til 6 O'clock for real then reconnect battery.

Problem solved. :devil

Put the broken clock back in... and be content in the knowledge that it reads perfect time, twice daily! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Besides, if you're married, you know that being right twice every day is more than most of us can hope for! hehehe
