About a year ago my sister in Fl. suffered a serious stroke...this is the sister that I gave a Midget to a few years ago when they lived here in NM. Needless to say, she can no longer drive. Anyhow, early this week I was at a local recyclers and there sat this very nice 92 GMC Vandura 2500 van?? Walked past it and was shocked to see no damage, nice paint..everything. Asked the guy what was up. He said to open the side doors. Wheelchair lift!! Thing looked new. All cables, pump..everything. Water in oil..no biggie. Owner died, family scrapped it. Lift is worth alot and custom van all equipped. Was working a deal when owners said as I help alot of people..it was mine. They knew about my sister and said it was the least they could do. Delivery today, new tires and a crate motor and then off on a road trip to Fl. She lives in the same town(Okeechobee) where we bought our vacation place so no problem..just a short drive:smile:

It is nice to know that there are good people out there willing to help another in need without trying to make a killing on something. He will find his reward in good time.

Good story. Glad to know folks are still good at heart. Most used "ramp vans" around here get really rusty underneath and become nightmares. They tend to sit very low, and the custom parts don't tend to have the best rustproofing. that combo leads to rot issues in the salt/snow.

Jack,

It's nice to see all the goodwill you've given other
people come back on you.

Jack;

You deserve this! What you do to help others should come back tenfold.
I do hope your sister does good from here on in.

Dave :yesnod:

Jack, if ya need any "support" give me a call.

...jus' sayin'...

You've realized that Jack is doing this for his Sister,not himself.
I really wish more people would live the way you do.I'm not in your
situation,but I commend you for your decisions in life.
Jack,please keep us updated about your "oppertunities" in life.
I wish that I was half the man you are.

Thx guys..and gals. I was at the shop yesterday working on the van. It is so clean and nice, looks like an intake gasket set and some other small things may finish this up. A business here in town is offering to donate a new set of tires...so this is one of those occasions I'm speechless. Another pal has offered to help detail the interior and replace the curtains, another is coming today to help do the intake. while at the shop yesterday, a guy I've never met stopped and asked if I happened to be open..wasn't but let him in and gave him some parts for an old Beetle he is building for his daughter, insisted on paying but told him I had lots of extra stuff. He asked why so I told him as I had been blessed with being able to find stuff cheap...or had alot given, I was just passing it on. The conversation turned to helping people and told him of the Mission to the Navajo Pueblo I'd gone on and Bugs4Christ I belonged to. He then offered to help. Said he knew there was a reason he came to my shop other than to look for parts. Wants to help on the resto of the VW bus and Baja Bug we're building. Funny how things work out. We're also working on giving presentations about the mission at local churches and other orgs and maybe having a fund raiser or two..
