My recent decision regarding oil in a '66 3000 with a rebuilt engine

If I had a choice, I'd run Castrol R in everything, the smell is heaven. I'd even consider a dab behind each earlobe in the hopes it would attract the woman of my dreams (Ssshh. Don't tell my wife.)

What we need is a setup like an airshow stunt plane: an exhaust injector that injects small amounts of "eau de castrol R" so we can have the smell without, you know, having to run the actual stuff.

Ray, Oils with an API rating starting with S are for gasoline engines (S stands for "spark). ...
Hope that helps.

Thanks, John. One of the best summaries on oil I've seen.

On another note; if you have a spin-on oil filter adapter--the type that is essentially a disk that bolts to the block--I found a good deal on quality filters (a little over $4/per):

When I bought my adapter from Moss many moons ago, I also bought one of the filters that fit the adapter. It was a Fram PH3600, which cross-refs to this Wix part. The Wix is a quality product (NFI).
