My purchase for the day

I've been trying to buy this original Triumph Alloy Sump from this guy for months now. He called the other day to let me know I could get the sump, but I would need to purchase the engine and trans also. I was afraid to ask what he wanted for the complete setup. $350.00 was the asking price so I said I would come over and take a look. After taking a look under the car I said I would give him $300.00, and he said OK. I had no idea that the trans was an OD unit.

I was curious about the color of the engine so I did a little research and found that TR3 Remanufactured engines were painted a green color. There was no sign of any other color being painted on the block. This engine and trans came out of a very early TR4.

Now I need to find room in the shed for the new additions.

What a score! I'll give you $350. Hey, that's a quick $50 profit in just one day before you turn me down!

Awesome deal Keith.

Cheers,
David

Randy I think I offered you the deal of the century some time back. It had to do with that piston and liner set that you found.

If you always keep one eye open for this type of stuff we will get that great deal once in a while.

Randy at this time I think I will pass on your offer, but thanks. Is Katy Texas anywhere near the F1 race in Nov? What do the locals have to say about it. I'm thinking of going if the funds are there.

Well bought!

Excellent deal. Did you already have an overdrive for your TR3?

Ha, yes, I forgot about that Keith! I actually just put those pistons and liners to good use in my engine rebuild, they got me to the Mitty and back on our 2700 miles break-in run.

Haven't heard much about about the F1 race, but I know they are having a kickoff expo in a couple of weeks I think designed to get the interest up:
Formula One Expo

The race is in the Austin area, which is only a couple of hours away for me in the Houston area so I will definitely be interested - send me a note if you are going to make it, maybe we can get together.

Scott I do have the original OD rebuilt and mounted to the chassis. It would be tempting to rebuild this one and put it in the car though. The four gear synchro would be nice. I'm too close to putting the body back on the car though.

You might need an addition to the shed for the car that goes under your purchase.

Keith,

Spares are always nice to have!

That is the deal of the year, if not decade...nice going.

I got the sump of the engine and all I could find wrong would be one vane has a chip in it, It even has the tray on the inside. I did not know that it was two pieces. I guess I have to make two gaskets.

Maybe a nice Devin body around this lump would look nice. Or maybe I could be like Johnny Cash and build something one part at a time.
