...& tell me, please, on what page you found that conversion.

Warning, It might take a while to load. But for those of you who dont wanna wait, its in the new one page 21, under performance.

What a hoax - & I know Zeniths...the ZS carb isn't the problem with that factory setup - its the manifold...& anybody who falls for that 'performance' bunk deserves to lose his $479! Plainly put: there's always something to take a sucker's $$$'s!

What's easier to tune about the single SUversus the ZS? Both have the exact same adjustments, just getting to the needle is a little different.

...& manual choke? HA! I've got almost 100,000 miles on a ZS carb that's been rebuilt once since it left the factory - & it still has its water 'choke'....no problems!

....will you get more power from the single SU? Not so long as you put it on the ZS intake manifold with its required catalytic converter - heck even without the cat you'll not notice $479 worth of power increase so long as you're sticking with the original ZS manifold....if I wanted more power from my '79 Vermillion Red B, I'd switch to dual HIF-4's (oh, wait, I did on my '79 Pageant Blue B!)

...but, to each his own!

I'm coming at this from the opposite direction from Tony, but I still agree. While I have no love for the ZS at all, just slapping a single SU on there isn't going to really fix things. It might, maybe, possibly, arguably be a bit more reliable, but not $480 bucks more.

There's WAY better choices than that.

I agree

Personally I’m only sticking with the ZS setup because of the strict emissions laws in California. Without it my 78B would never be able to pass the smog test. This has necessitated that I learn a lot about tuning my stock setup or I’d have to pay the big bucks in order to have someone else do it for me. So IMHO Tony is correct when setup properly the ZS can be very reliable.

That said if my B were exempt from emissions testing I’d for sure dump the single carb setup entirely in favor of either the duel SUs or maybe the downdraft 32/36 Weber. But if I wanted to get really serious, I’d build my engine up a little more & go with a sidedraft 45 Weber.

Welcome to the world of British Cars.

Not sure were you live, but the best place to find parts and tech information is Carlisle, PA at the British car weekend which is May 21-23.

Most dealers have booths as well as many freindly MG'ers looking to get rid of old stock they collected and talk about experiences they went through.

Best of luck.
