The point of this off-the-wall post is....I bought a Rowenta Advancer steam iron about 2 years ago (yes, I iron) because it is the best German steam iron you can buy. Used by the pros. Last week, while sitting on idle atop the ironing board (about 1100 RPMs), the sucker went up in flames! Literally. Sparks flew everywhere. Quickly unplugged it and called Rowenta. In so many words, they told me to put it where the sun don't shine, it was out of warranty. Soooo, I went back to Bed, Bath and Beyond (now this is 2 years after I bought it), with no receipt, and before I could get the words out of my mouth, the gal at the service desk said, "Go get you another one." There is a Santa Claus.
Oh, and I noticed the lower-end Rowentas are now made in China. Figures.
