My next CD!

Gives ya chills, don't it?

I bought the CD/DVD a few months ago and have all but worn it out. Great story about them - who until a few years ago were playing on the streets in Europe (I think) for living expenses.

Wonder if Jimmy Page, et all, ever dreamed of hearing it like this...

If you like them, check out Eric Hansen (if you haven't already). I have two of his CD's "Romancero" and "Without Words" - great stuff.

basil, sweeeet! id recently listened to a radio interview with them i think on n.p.r. they are both genuine personalitys and still approachable telling how they practice together and how they write/pick tunes, they played a couple i thought were great and pretty much told the story of their lives they explained that all their concerts turn into a huge party, yup their cd"s are on my 'to buy" list. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Oh, and by the way, on the DVD there's a tutorial where they break down some of their techniques (not that I could ever come close to doing what they do!).

That record got lots of airplay on WXRT here in Chicago. We couldn't keep it in stock for a while there.

Very, very nice.
It's neat to see someone who can really *play* the guitar....it seems so rare these days.

My favorite guitar player is Stanely Jordan. After he finished at Princeton he went out on the streets and played as a street-musician (in NY, I think) to "grow" his skill.
He has a frenetic and unique plucking style that is fun to watch.
I've seen him in person and it's amazing to watch his fingers.

"Eleanor Rigby" by Stanley Jordan

And here's Jordan doing "Stairway to Heaven" (he plays *two* guitars for part of this).

By the way, here's ~My Latest CD~

Hmmm....recently acquired CDs. What a cool idea for a thread!

Most recent:
The Cat Empire

Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles (fans of, say, Sheryl Crow, Allison Moorer, or American roots music in general should go right out and buy this record.)

The Von Bondies (the song C'mon C'mon will be familiar to fans of Rescue Me.

I just picked up a copy of Dan Crary's 2003 "Renaissance of the Steel String Guitar". Some good stuff. Kind of like "Leo Kottke meets Carlos Montoya".

That was very nice. Enjoyed.
