Nope, never have too much compressor.

One suggestion, though, you might want to use a section of flexible line between the compressor and the wall.

How much ya want for the old one? It looks nice compared to my tire inflater.
I am curious about the material composing the pad you have the new one mounted on, it doesn't look like concrete on my screen. When I mounted our compressor at work, the boss insisted I put rubber doughnuts above and below the feet that the mounting bolts went through. We used discs cut from a mud flap I think. We also used a flex hose. Don't know if it was worth the trouble or not, but he was paying for it. Congrats on a nice unit and have fun.

I need one like that to get my body work started this winter. My concern is with the strict HOA regulations we have and the noise. I've had people come buy while I was working in the garage and take pictures. They would leave before I had the opportunity to ask if I could help with something. For that reason I contract out some of the work I would like to do myself.

I do agree with the flexible line between the unit and the garage.

Sorry Dale the old one is spoken for, taken it to my friends beach house so we can pump up golf cart tires and beach toys
Where do you get the flex hose? Thats probably a great idea, my hard line runs just inside the shed to a filter regulator. The pad is just a 24 x 24 inch slab purchased at Lowes with anchor bolts so I dont think vibration is a problem and the manual just said attach to the floor, nothing about using vibration pads, If I have a problem I can always change it.

back to blow dust around,

now I have a hankering to repaint my hood on my TR6

That is nice, I'm dying for a blast cabinet but I need a setup like that first. Have fun with it!

WOW...very nice. I had to make do with an old 3 hp V-twin compressor I bought from someone for $50 delivered. It got me through my resto including the paint job. Fortunately I could bring stuff to work to glass bead.

Yep - I can personally attest to having a blast cabinet and not enough compressor. Doesn't work too well at anything except reminding oneself that they should have bought more compressor.

hey I just got a barely used compressor just like your old one- just wondering about its limitations and/or value in a shop. I'm a woodworker/future restorer. Thanks

Any compressor is better than no compressor. At the moment I'm still using a 2-HP antique I bought from my neighbor almost 20 years ago... and it must have been 15 or 20 years old when I bought it. As with many things, "I wish mine were bigger". I do suffer from tool envy. Contratulations!

For more on Tool Envy Syndrome (TES), see the web link below for the 7x10 Mini Lathe. (half way down the page)

It's always a good read.

Nice A/C!!

Make sure you run it nice and hot about once a week. Otherwise the oil will absorb water & turn milky, especially in the hot/humid charlotte area!

Thanks for the information. I am usually good about reading manuals but since I have been working on my hood every night I have not had a chance

IR provides manuals?? Ha, ha.

(PS I work for IR air compressors; specifically the large >2000 hp centrifugal babies, in Davidson NC. The recips like yours come from Campbelsville KY... )
