Just finished up my home brew rotisserie. Have not done a 180 flip yet but have got to 45 degrees no problem. Need to remove the doors before we go right over.

I would go broke doing it as a business as I am too slow. I did build the bench for my Smithy 3 in 1 machine.
It will be good practice for my welding on the Midget,

That is the result of a lot of mental design and redesign. Once I had the turnover area sorted the rest came together. I did look at videos of commercial ones to get ideas.
About $200.00 in material but I did draw on my stock of scrap steel from work. I was in the habit of collecting square tubing and angle cutoffs at work.

I suspect the rotisserie is more solid than the car just now (likely heavier too :ROFLMAO: )

Looks great! and now I want a Smithy 3 in 1 (except for me would it be a 4 in 1?) :rolleyes2: - off to search the interwebnet. :D

The Midget is fairly solid. Only the floor pan rusting out in the foot well area and a little under the seats. The rest so far looks solid.

The Smithy 3 in 1 is a good lathe but the mill part is turning out to be a little less so for me. Maybe more practice is needed or a lift block as I am having to have too much quill stick out which is not good. A DRO would help with the mill bit.

Thank you.
Kind of impressed Me when it flipped with no issues.
There are no drawings of it. It was just made upon the fly. The turnover part was my sticking point. Once that part was sorted out the rest just came together.
I have always preferred to work in 3D not on paper.

David, can you show a photo of the rotation stuff? That would be interesting to see. The rest of it is really impressive.

I used 2 pieces of black iron pipe I had laying around. One was about 2" OD and the other would just not fit inside the 2" pipe. I turned the outside dimeter of the smaller pipe and bored the 2"pipe so one would slide into the other.
I made some thick washers with a 12mm hole that fit inside the small pipe to support the small pipe in my center bolt. Then a larger washer to retain the 2" pipe on the inner pipe. Bolted it to a piece of 1/2" x 3"plate I had in the pile of steel and used "U" bolts to hold the cross tube to the outer tube. I will weld it once I get the welder down to the shop.
I wanted to prove the concept before making it permanent.
The 1/2" x 3" plate is welded to a piece of square tube that slides over the 2" square tube main upright.

Great job David, I built my rotisserie I guess a couple of years ago. I bought a set of plans on line and then modified it the way I wanted. I have only used one end to support the back of the chassis while I am putting the tub together. I am down to a couple of weeks to finish up a project for a friends wife and then I will be back to working on my car. Really hot in my shop but anxious to get back to it. Cooler days will be here before we know it. Frank
