my "new" hardtop

just got my "new" hardtop for the Midget

it will take some work to get her presentable, but it looks to be in decent shape. there are no cracks, the windows look good, and all the brackets and clasps seem to be there.

what it will need is new weather stripping. I sent an e-mail to Moss, and they don't carry it. does anyone know where I could get some weather stripping?

also, opinions wanted, should I go black or white with the hardtop?

Re: my "new" hardtop

Congratulations! It looks good. I'm jealous. 'Twere mine, I'd paint it to match the body color. Otherwise, I'd go with black. White would be tough to keep clean, I'd think.

Re: my "new" hardtop

If you're putting it on your '74 go Black or body color...OEW tops went out with the '67 year models.

Horler sez

<span style="font-style: italic">"The factory hardtop for th Sprite MkIV and Midget MkIII was based on that of the previous type, but with revised shaping to suit the new rear edge of the cockpit. Note that the lower edge of the hardtop is much straighter than before. This hardtop also continued to serve the Midget 1500 and was offered only in black."</span>

Re: my "new" hardtop

Looks good. My vote is for body color if you want to be different.

Re: my "new" hardtop

I also vote for body color.

Re: my "new" hardtop

It's my '79 MGB but you can get the idea:

Re: my "new" hardtop

wow, that looks sharp Tony !! what does OEW mean?

I may be inclined to go black, to keep it original, and that will make it easier to sell if ever I need to. (but I never will)

but then again, it does look sharp when it matches the body color.

does anyone have a picture of a black top?

Re: my "new" hardtop

OEW=Old English White

Re: my "new" hardtop

Yep, black does not do anything for me.

Re: my "new" hardtop

:iagree:

Re: my "new" hardtop

Yep, that black hardtop is on my black '63 MGB now! & the black hardtop on my '68 BRG MGC will be repainted BRG.....don't have a car that I want to put the one I'm painting OEW on right now...decided not to put it on my V8 car because I like the weird one on it.

Re: my "new" hardtop

I vote for the preference of the owner. It's the only vote that counts.

Re: my "new" hardtop

I like that BE only rounded off one. Body color.
