My new aquisition

Did you get it home? Can't wait to see pics in the new place and on your web-site.

Just got it home a couple hours ago. My god that thing tears up the freeway! Those MGC engines are all torque but this one is ridiculous. I passed a couple cars that were doing about 70 MPH. When I looked down I was going 95 with no sign of the acceleration slowing. I think it's capable of more speed than I'm brave enough to use.

Sounds like its a good thing that the plate is stuck to the inside of the rear window. To bad the paint job is one of a kind.

I would be curious what kind of horsepower you're getting at the rear wheels! Got a dyno near you?

The MGC engine is a VERY torquey beast, even in its stock configuration.....upgrades like yours...well....make me drool.

My buddy down the road just put triple Webers on his C/GT automatic...man, what a drive.

Now you know why I like my MGC(s) over my MGB!

The car has over 200HP at the rear wheels. I don't know what the torque is. At 2400 lbs(?) I think it's fair to say this is the fastest car I've ever owned.

Power-to-weight is gettin' to Lotus numbers, fer sure. Gotta be ~driving~ it all the time... no 'casual' motoring with that one.

And I guess DrE's offer takes a back seat to a BIRD then, huh? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

What on earth was done to achieve that kind of power? Not a challenge Steve, just curious... my 04 BMW 330i ZHP (hotter cams/exhaust) doesn't even have 200HP at the rear wheels...

Got a dyno sheet?

You know the STROKE on that thing, Scotty?!?! 83.3 x 88.9 mm. 145HP at 5200RPM outta th' box. That was two SU's and some smog gear.

It's ~IN~ there. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

If I could afford air fare then this car might be paid off! LOL!

Unfortunately no. But the car is said to have been on two separate dynos and both reported in the 200+ HP range. When this car was built, it had everything done to it that MG Motorsport had to offer.

Here are some clips from the builder's notes about the car...

Aluminum cylinder head modified gas flowed and lead free by Peter Burgess, high lift rockers and block re-bored with new pistons and valve cut-outs in top of block. Cam re-profiled to MGM4B, with Vernier cam gear. Crankshaft re-ground and balanced with front damper, lightened flywheel and high performance clutch plate and cover. Triple 45DCOE Weber carburetors with cast alloy intake manifold, Downton style exhaust headers and twin pipe exhaust system with side exit. Power approximately 200+ bhp at the wheels (standard approx. 100 bhp). Lumenition constant energy ignition system, distributor modified 18 degrees mechanical advance.

Sooooo, would it be safe to say that the engine isn't necessarily 3.0L anymore? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Pro'lly right at or *just* over, Rob.

Th' bloody thing has a main cap t'wixt every rod. It'll take a LOT of modification and be just FINE. About as stout an in-line six as ever came from England. Ya can see horsepower drippin' from th' airhorns with th' thing switched OFF!!

Steve, Did you check in the mirror to see if you gained any chest hair after driving that monster?
Ooooh to go for a romp in that.... Watch the look of horror on the kids face as you dust his 5.0 mustang

Okay. 6. 6 sweet MGs.

I've tried to not go here, but Steve...

will you marry me?

Hey! Me first, I can cook, clean, and tune carbs!

I've been looking for an excuse to come to LA, now I have one. Such a great car! Congratulations!

Yeah, I'm dying to see a youtube link or some video or something.
C'mon Steve, I'm dying here, I wanna ~hear~ it!!

A standard MGC is 2912cc. This one is bored +60. Anyone care to figure that out?

No, but I better ask my wife if she has! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif

Come on out. We'll go for a romp through the local canyons. I don't need much of an excuse to go driving for a day!

Me too!!!!!

I don't have a video camera, which is odd considering my profession. I'll figure something out though, even if it's a video clip from a point and shoot!
