Seems my MGB doesn't care for cool weather and isn't afraid to tell me. Since I picked her up, the weather has been excellent and she's run like a top. Then yesterday the temps dropped into the upper 50's and I had a rather grouchy car. Despite my many attemps to adjust the choke, she grumbled and sputtered and complained on the drive to work and then home. She has the day off today as it is raining and the weekend doesn't look promising.
 
Pete, if the humididity is high or raining, you may be getting cross fire off the plug wires. 50 degrees shouldn't be causing this. With the engine warm, shouldn't be a problem.
Crank it up in the dark and you might be able to see fire jumping between the wires. Also look for a crack in the dist. cap. Inside the cap, a crack can sometimes be seen as a carbon track on the cap.

You could always ground yourself and just grab a handful of wires and see if you light up. Always a sure sign of a problem with plug wires.

Run a piece of wet-or-dry #600 thru the points a couple times.

Na, just pee on the wires while it's running. YOu'll know immedeatly if you have a problem.

Sometimes I would bring some of the boys from church to preview the auction with me. I always carried an extra spark plug. If I wanted to check spark on a car, I would hand the kid the plug with a wire connected to it.
