My MG is more practical

Last night on the way home from dinner, my wife and I stopped at the Ford dealer to look at an Escape like we are going to rent on an Arizona vacation in May. In the showroom, there was also a beautiful new Shelby Mustang GT with chains around it to keep people from touching it and a $37,000 plus sticker. My wife made me stop drooling and go home, where I stopped in my garage to admire my MGB. We talked about the cost being one-tenth of the Shelby, the $60 per year insurance, no depreciation, ease and low cost of repairs, and decided that my MG is more practical!

For those of you with doubting spouses, stop with her (him) and look at a new sports car...works for me!

Put ropes around IT!

...& a $37,000 plus stcker!

And if you park them both side by side in a parking lot, more people will stop and look and talk about the MG!

...and usually try to start a conversation with: "Is that a Fiat?"

But I must admit the 37K gets you a killer exhaust system, that thing almost sounds like music! I've driven GT's and they are totally impractical but a ton of fun, you can break that rear end loose just by thinkin about it.

Yesterday I drove my 94 GT to the local Ford dealership to ask about a few minor bits I need...the the center section under the nose that gets rubbed off all the time. I rumbled up to the front door of the showroom and like alsways, numerous folks came out and asked what was crammed into the thing. I showed it while a few yards away sat at least five Calif. Special mustangs and a few other beefed up Mustangs....all new. But my old 94 got all the attention. A totally one piece, three inch stainless steel exhaust with a just streetable 5.0 roller motor built to the max trumps an off the rack new car anytime. Practical?? Not hardly. Fun?? Always..and especially when a local cop rolls up thinking he has a young kid to warn. The shake there head and cruise by.

See, Jack?! Peter Pan WAS right!!!
