It has been a long project, and I still have the boot and bonnet, as well as two front wings and a passenger door to go, but it is starting to look like a car.

Now I am looking at the outside door handles and they do not look so good, any opinion on the quality of the ones sold by the usual sources would be appreciated.

Oh, that wheel is temporary while I refinish the originals and mount the 205 70 hydo-edges.

Why do you have that white jug, old tire, 2x4 and that ladder painted on your door?.... Just kidding, it looks GREAT!
I took my old door handles and used a polishing wheel and some compound and they came out great. You might give it a try and if you still don't like them then get new ones.

My wife asked me a similar question, "Why didn't you clear that junk out of the way before you took the picture?" I shrugged my shoulders and told her I would do it right away. That was three days ago...

Just say <span style="font-style: italic">"Yes dear...."</span> it works for me.

"Yes dear," is a perfectly acceptable phrase...
It beats, "What are you talking about?" or, "Are ye daft?" all to heck...
YMMV, of course...

Oh... That's a fine, smooth, shiny door! Nice work!

Ray,

When you get it done, you're welcolmed to drive it up our way!

get your old door handles re chromed, they are small enough you can ship them off, while you are at it do the gas lid and while you do those do the interior door handle and window crank, now the bumpers next,,, haha

Thanks. A lot of work was put into those parts.

As I paint and mount additional panels, I'll post them. If I remember, I will post some in process work.

Ray, I never personally painted any of my cars and I had a lot of them painted by friends in the dealership body shops where I worked, but except for the TR6, part of the deal was that I had to help wet sand them down between coats and after the clear was on. Those were the days of 5-7 coat lacquer jobs with 3-4 coats of clear on top. I then had to learn how to buff with compound and how NOT to burn through paint/clear.

Even with the new paints on the market today, I know exactly what it takes to get the type of finish you are showing there. My hat is off to you and your painstaking efforts!!

EDIT: You are gonna love the handling with those 205 hydro edges on the car......

Well, I finally got the 205-70 15 hydro-edges mounted and on the car. They really look sweet.

The rear springs are the lower springs from Goodparts without his spacers, yet to me the car still seems to be sitting high. Puzzling to me.

Oh, and yes, this time I picked up the mess before I took the picture. (actually I just moved it out of the way  )

You still need to add alot of weight to the car in parts. It will also settle some after driving.

The Michelin Hydro Edge tire is an excellent choice for the TR6, IMHO. Had them on my car when I sold it to PB. Guess Ken disagreed with that as he changed them out. Anywho, they will give you excellent cornering, dry and wet traction (wet especially in Louisiana), look, ride, wear, etc. The reason most avoid buying them is they were designed for minivans, etc. and not sports cars. Plus the price, they ain't cheap! Ride on....
