Got a soft top for the Jeep yesterday and got it installed. This is my convertible until Penny gets finished. Door-off driving is as fun as I remember it from my old FJ40 days.

At least you still get open top motoring. It doesn't look like it from the photo, but does the windshield still fold down?
 
Yup, it's nice to have some open-air motoring.

The windshield can fold down, though it's a very complicated process -- lots to unbolt and remove, and it's a curved windshield now so it doesn't really lay flat anymore. Nothing I'd ever bother doing, and I won't be surprised if that feature goes away finally with the next version of the Wrangler.

Don't. Tell you a story. My brother Pete, who is now bald, while working on the farm using an old CJ, wind caught the windscreen and up it came. Wiper motor hit him in the forehead..blood everywhere...and shortly afterwards he started losing his hair.
Leave it up.

No worries here. I did the windsheid down thing once in an old FJ40 years ago, and it was no fun. It's so hard with the current Wrangler that it's not worth it really. I expect it may dissappear from the next version.

It's a very honest vehicle. Not the best commuter, for sure, but comfy enough and the gas mileage isn't as bad as it could be (about 22mpg or so for me). It's fantastic for my trips down into southern Utah. So much terrain to explore, and it's nice to have extra capability. I'm not a rock crawler, but there's so much exploring to be done around here.
