My Jag needs new tyres

I have a 1986 Jag Sovereign, done 40K miles. I use it to cart my associates about in. And my brother.
I`ve never had any bother with it, always been there, always started up fine in those tricky situations.
But, I got stopped by Plod last night and they reckon I need new tyres.
Wheres the best place where I can get some?
Not a mainstream place cos they wanna know name and address and all that.

Can you order tyres via the internet? Then get someone to mount and balance them. Alternatively, a little service station out in the country might be able to do the job for you.

The mounters usually need names for the recyling of the older tyres and the manufacture will for warranty?

yeahhh, I was wondering the same thing...

there is no such thing as total anonimity, even the license plate in a car is full of information.

Why is that an issue? Tire Rack is a good source, but I don't know how you'd do business without them knowing who you are.

Strange request!Buy through the internet-have to have a delivery address and card name,doesn't matter whether you buy from a small or mainstream tyre supplier-they still want a name on the receipt.-if it's such a big issue -make one up!-the tyres should be readily available in the uk.Like I and everyone says"strange request!"

Eee, cheers chaps.
I got my mate Ted to get them for me, he used his Great Aunts address. I bunged him a couple of ton for his troubles.
The reason I don`t want my name and address bandied about is I know what Plod are like. Snides the lot of `em.
Anyway, the Jag is going well, I took one of my girlfriends out in it last night, and its running perfect

Hello DB,

when you were stopped they would likely have done a number plate check so they will know all about you anyway, and if the check and car showed a discrepancy they would have pulled you in.

Yes, they have that ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) in their cars, and they knew who you were before you even stopped......
