Zack...take the "L" horn out & run 12v directly to it...it'll either blow, make a 'thunk' or make no noise....yours is probably gonna go 'thunk' or nothing...I've got lots of good used ones...just tell me if you need one wth 4 male prongs or 2

...hmmmm, wonder if Janel's 'hooters' have male prongs?

When we were in Michigan and we 'honked' at the Mangles, Carol thought I missed second gear and screeched the gears. I said it was my hooters!

At 52, I should look into getting new hooters. Something that will draw some attention when they're used properly.

Reluctantly joining this thread, I have a classic ah-oo-gaa horn waiting in the wings for the TR2. That will suffice until I come across a set of the original "windtone" horns. When they are working they are plenty loud and have a classic sound.
But I always love the smiles with a good "aaah-oooooooo-gaaaa. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
Banjo - do you squeeze those hooters or push their button to get that "aaah-oooooooo-gaaaa" sound?

Tony, so the LE would only have one L horn?and it does both low and high?

Zack: I can't speak for any cars other than my '76, but if you have two horns in the car they should be located in the front left and front right just behind the mesh grill that's behind the bumper. If you have two horns, then one of them should probably be a low pitch and the other a high pitch. If you only hear the high pitch then chances are the low pitch is busted.

I think Tony was telling you how to check the low horn to see if it's good or bad. Two states being bad: the clunk, and no sound at all. One state being good: honking like a hooter gone mad. This is if you connect the horns directly to the battery. The reckonin' is that since you only have the cutesy high pitch, the low pitch is either disconnected or not working. Best to op check it before getting new ones... right? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
All MGB's had 2 horns, an L & an H....

The originals actually have an "L" or an "H" in the casting on the inside "lower lip" of the horn... er... I mean hooter.
