So as most of you know, I took the rear tires off my midget to get them swapped with some newer tires that would hold air just to roll the mg out of its present spot in the driveway. well, I my buddy refferred me to a place called Bear's Used Tires, since I was just looking for the cheapest thing possible no balancing, I figured this would be the place to go. So I find the place, and after sorting through a couple of racks of used tires the guy there finally found a 175R13 but that was all he had that wasn't new that would fit. So we inspected the rear left tire and determeined that it was holding air just fine. so I decided to replace only the one that was completely shot. after waiting about 5 minutes they switched the tire and found the valve stem to be faulty as wel, so they replaced that as well. I went to pay the bill, and the guy at the register asked me if I was military (must be the haircut) I said yes and he handed me two business cards, said thank you and that the tire was on the house. I mean it was only gonna be $25 anyway, but that totally made my day. so if any of you are ever in the san diego area look up Bear's Tires just off Miramar Road, by MCAS Miramar they have new and used, and they are really fast at the work they do. In Fact I'm takin gmy Ranger up there to get new front tires in about two months it will end up saving me another $50 over what Sears charged me for the rear tires on my truck.

Nice to see that some still feel grateful for what the Armed Forces sacrifice for this country. Most of the places around Navy bases I was stationed at wanted your money but then wanted you to leave as fast as possible. They didn't really care for the sailors too much for some reason.

That's a great story Adam.

I wish I was closer....I'd buy my street tires from a guy like that. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Me too. Every now and then you find a place that gives an official military discount, but they are few and far between. I'd definitely buy tires from that business if I were in San Diego.

Not too long ago I was having lunch at a local fast food joint and 2 young military guys came in still in uniform.
I stopped by their table and handed them a $20 and just said thanks for doing what you do for me and my Country.
I turned and quickly walked out.
It just made me feel good to help out someone who is helping me in an unseen way.
So Adam, that tire guy probably feels better than you in his heart.

My oldest Son would appreciate that.
He'll be graduating UNNA (Navel Academy),
the end of May.
He came up the hard way -boot camp,prep-
- school,then the academy.
He had a lot of fuun with the charge card people,
when they asked for annual income (individual/household).
He'd say "Well,my incomes $200/Month.Multiply that by
1225,& you have my household income"
They'ed usually hang up!
It IS good to hear that some businesses do appreciate the
military!
