My fuel problem continues.

The red reading is is 15.8 mm. If the float is to low and I still have black and wet plugs indicating to rich of a mixture, I'm wondering if I need smaller jets. Thanks for bearing with me on this one!

Thanks,

Mike

At idle, generally not mains.
I used to do a lot with those, generally threw them away (look like old Holleys on Vegas and Pintos).

Idle jets too big can do that, but generally not that fast.
If the mixture control actually drops the idle down when you screw them in, mains aren't the problem at idle.

When idling (and I know it won't), would have been handy to know if raw fuel was spilling down the throat.

Electrical:
If the spark is insufficient for the job, it will load up and die with wet plugs.
New coil, you say, but always remember rule 1 of auto repair:

"Just because it's a new part doesn't mean it's a good part".

Have you actually checked spark now, with it DOA?

Do NOT pull the plugs and lay them on the block and crank or you wil have a huge flamethrower with the cylinders loaded up with raw gas.

99% of carburation problems are electical!!! Could it be condenser??? Coil???

I whole heartedly concur with this statement. Check the fire. get one of those deals you put on a spark plug at Harbor freight and it flickers when the plug fires and watch and make sure it has steady spark when its cutting out. Many good carbs torn apart becaus of a condenser. Also, lots of bad new condensers floating around out there.

With the rig I see and that diagram, the full "drop" from the face of the lid to bottom of float should be 51MM, full rise at 35MM (as noted: plastic float). With that, the red measurement may be as much as the 15.8 you see. But it seems like a lot to me.

From your descriptions of wet plugs the other guys may be on to something. New coil, good. What condition is the rest of the ignition system in?
