My first Midget

Hi all-
Just bought my first Midget. Have always liked them, and now I have one. It's a 1971, according to the seller I'm the 3rd owner. He just put a new top on it last year. I'm going to pick it up at the end of this week and slip it into my garage for the winter. What I'd like to know is where I can find parts for my baby; the interior needs re-doing (seats, door panels, carpeting..)The engine, transmission, and clutch appear to be sound, and I have it lined up to be painted this winter, some minor body stuff too. I'll post some b/f and aft. pics this spring...any and all advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks-

Top right corner of your screen is a good start for parts.(mossmotors.com)
A hearty welcome to a fellow spridgeteer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Hi...first of all...Welcome to the Forum! Spend some time to read some of the posts here and in the Spridget Forum! You will likely agree with over 3000 people who find this the most imformative and fun Forums on the internet!

Next, go to Moss Motors webesite and order a catalog or view the online catalog...should give you an idea of what parts are available and you will likely be pleasantly surprised with the offerings. Vicoria British (not to be comfuse with Secret) also offers a free catalog for the asking with lots of other fre stuff, including a pamphlet on interiors, which is mostly sales oriented but has some useful information.

My last and likely most imprtant tip is to take your time doing anything this winter...read a lot of stuff here and other places beofre you jump into a project. For example, I would seriously consider holding off on the paint job until you decide what to do about the interior...you may want to paint the entire tub while you have the inside stripped of carpet and seats. Things like that will make you crazy beofore your time...one of the things about LBC's.

Enjoy your new toy!

Bruce

Welcome to the nut house, Mike. You will find a wealth of information here, as many of us own Midgets and Sprites. By the way, we have our own playground here, the "Spridget" forum.
Parts are readily available for the Spridget, the two most common sources being Moss Motors, in California, https://www.mossmotors.com/ and Victoria British, out of Kansas City. https://www.victoriabritish.com/
Moss has an east coast warehouse, so shipping times are reduced for those of us on this side of the country.
Once again, welcome to the fun, and there's no need to put it away yet. We'll still have a few nice days before the snow flies. I'm driving my '72 until the salt trucks come out.

Congrats Mike!

And find a good club to join...

Thought Watertown sounded familiar, drove by there a couple of years ago on a trip down into the States. Anyway there is an excellent British car club just north of the border where you live (in Kingston, Ontario) called the Boot 'n Bonnet Club - www.bootnbonnet.org - I believe they have a number of American members from jut below the border crossing there.
