MGB My First MGB in 41 Years

I just bought a 1974 MGB, sight unseen, after not having one for 41 years. My first B was a 66, and at age 18 I drove it not knowing about maintenance. It was a fun ride at 80 miles per hour with no brakes and no clutch (I used American petroleum brake fluid for both the brakes and the clutch, which destroyed the rubber seals). I am looking forward to resurrecting a vehicle that has not run for years, which the seller represented has "very little" rust. We shall see on Saturday, when I pick it up.

I expect to have a multitude of questions once I get it home and start to try and sort out the issues with the vehicle.

Wish me luck.

Regards,

Leonard

Welcome back to the world of MGs Leonard! Here is a good place to get all the info you need to put it back on the road. We'll help all we can. :encouragement: PJ

Welcome, Leonard! You'll find plenty of assistance here; lots of folks more than willing to lend an ear, give advice, help chase down parts, and sometimes even pitch in and help, if close by.

One of our late members, Tony Barnhill, put together a wonderful tool for your task at hand, entitled "Awakening a Sleeping B". You'll find lots of good info here:

Be sure to send pictures when you get your new toy.

Congrats on your new addition! Hope it's a good one for you.

Very exciting, and welcome! Looking forward to following your work.

I appreciate your encouragement. I am awaiting pictures from the seller tomorrow, some of which I will try and post once received.

Regards,

Leonard

The MGB is now in my garage. I am attaching a picture from the seller. I hope to start the work on it within the next few weeks after I get home from a business trip.
