My first LBC drive

Now, many of y'all have driven many a LBC in your lives. Some even had them when they were new. Me, I've only ever sat in one once (an MG TD) and never drove one.

Until today.

I went to see a Bugeye that a local guy has up on eBay. Nice car, and as advertised. What an amazing feeling to finally get to sit down in the driver's seat, turn the key, and pull out the starter. Just drove it around the block, but what a sensation. Smells of leather, metal, sounds of engine, exhaust. Wow.

I know it's a bit silly, but I think this short little drive set the hook for good. Heck, I even fit (I'm 6' 1"). Still don't know what flavor of LBC is in store for me, and now I'm not sure it even matters. I'm addicted...

Ya...but it's a good addiction.
And as for Bugeyes: gotta love a car that makes you smile and smiles back at you.

Sports cars with half a leaf spring in the rear, drum brakes on the front and windows that slide, engine under 1000cc, and no trunk lid and parts that are rare and expensive.. let me think about this... ok, that's enough... I'll trade my 67 midget with full leafs and roll down windows and disc brakes and a powerful 1275 cc and a convenient trunk and cheap parts and a fully attached folding hood for a bugeye. Choose your LCD carefully.

Addicted.
And you can NEVER kick the habit.
I know, I used to sneak my Dad's Sprite out before I was of legal driving age. Then he sold his Sprite to me when I did get a license. That was over 50 Sprites ago and something like 14 other LBCs. Well it has taken 33 years to collect that 64 LBCs, and I only have 6 or 7 of them now 4 on the road at any given time, one or 2 always for sale, and the next project always sitting next to the garage.
You're hooked, there is NO antidote, and it might as well be as bad as being hooked on drugs. But at least it's a legal high /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
