That is a great vanity plate on your 4A, Scott. I hope you still have it.

Well it's been a long time since the car has been on the road so I'm guessing VA's DMV allows vanity plates to be recycled if they aren't registered and the website shows that as taken. :frown:

What happened to both cars?

With the TR3 (TS80522L), the guy I sold it to in '69, managed to roll it within his first 36 miles of ownership. There were three in the vehicle and incredibly only he was injured. A good friend bought it for $100 (I had sold it for $1000), had the dents repaired, and we went auto crossing with it. At an auto cross in Chambersburg,PA, my buddy managed to wreck it when he lost control running into a light standard. He sold it a short time later ('71) to someone I didn't know and I lost sight of it.
With the TR4A (CT69795L), after trading it in (in '72 on a MG Midget), I never saw it again.
Lots of great memories, both were great looking/driving examples.
 
I'm sure there were lots of good memories as I have very fond memories of driving mine at that time both pre- and post-restoration!

I guess I'm dating myself much younger that a lot of you guys, but here's a picture of me picking up my very first car, while in college in 1993. The lady who owned it had bought it new in 1976 and you can see clearly wasn't terribly thrilled to see it go to some young punk! I didn't even know how to drive stick at the time, and stalled that poor sucker at every single traffic light on the way home.

Thanks Randy. My taking a photo of a 40 year old photo doesn't really work. The 4A was green with black interior.
 
Well, this is a repeat for many of you, but here's MY first Triumph (I'm the one in the front passenger seat), taken in October 1958:

I tried my best to clean up your photos in photoshop. I think they look slightly better. The years can be harsh to our photographic memories.
