My first Big Healey

Well after owning fifty some odd Spridgets and having no less than 3 Sprites on the road at any given time, I am now the owner of a 62 Healey 3000 MKII.
This one was a Nasty Boy back in it's prime and I intend on keeping it as it was in it's prime.
289 Ford V8 since that's what came out of it and it still has all the fixins for that engine.
No dents at all, never been hit, not much rust, and it even has a pretty good interior! All this for about what a project Sprite costs these days. $1300 bucks.
I think I did good. Well the bumpers and grille surround need to be rechromed and it really does need some fresh paint. My wife decided on black over pink.
Looks like I have a lot of learning to do but I already found lots of things on it that are the same as on Sprites.
Lots of things are different too.

Glad you got here, Frank. As a 100-8 owner myself, I'd say that you got a HECK of a deal !

Looks like you're gonna have a couple of years of FUN !

When I get rid of my 65 Mustang Fastback, I'm going to start looking for a rolling Sprite to mod.

Do I see a "frameless" side window in that picture ?

All the A-H rollup windows (BJ7 and BJ8) are frameless. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Doohhh... (slapping myself in the forehead) Of course they are... I knew that. I guess that I got so wrapped up in the write-up that I "forgot" the year and MK #.

I also didn't see the chrome along the top of the door.

On another topic, I just got back from picking up my daughter & her family at D-FW airport. They had breakfast this AM with my 92 year old mother in Laguna Hills.

Thanks for keepin' things beautiful out there for us flatland visitors.

Tim,

Thanks for the kind words ... we do try to keep it nice but it's getting hard with the pace of development. If you really want to have some fun, drive out in your Healey sometime and catch some of the nicer sections of Pacific Coast Hwy in Central California and the Sierra mountains on the return.

Cheers,
John

p.s. Frank ... nice find! Good luck with your big Healey!

Great Find S.N. Enjoy the journey!
I hope to be in your shoes next yr.
My daughter is in Flanders - 10 min from Britfest 04
Are you near there? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
