Hi their fellow Enthusiasts. My name is Vee and I live in New Jersey. I have a 1974 MGB that I bought last year. Low miles and in great shape as it was stored for the last 25 years indoors. Anyway I love driving this car especially on a sunny day with the top down. It’s so much fun to drive. So my girlfriend and I are on our way to her bungalow up past Belvidere NJ. We’re on county road 519. Just enjoying the morning not even driving very fast when out of the woods come at bear at full speed. OK granted it wasn’t fully grown but it’s shoulder we’re still above the door top. I slammed on the brakes and spun the car sideways and managed to only clip him. I’m not sure he noticed and never slowed down and disappeared in the woods on the other side of the road. I consider myself fortunate, there a good sized dent in the hood and the rubber bumper was bent and a small chip out of it. I pulled the bumper back into position. I then call the cops figuring I need to report hitting a bear. Two Troopers responded, (who by the way when did cops get so young) , they said they’d report it to Fish and Game and unless I wanted a report was good to go. Both said this was the first bear accident they’ve ever responded to. Deer accidents by the hundreds but no bears. Lucky me. Well we finally got on our way a little shaken but no the worse for the wear. Hope you got a chuckle out of this.
