Hello all,
Viceroy here. I'm as you can see I'm new to your forum
and would like to know if any one knows where I can buy a pair of euro style high beams for my 85 XJ6 III? I saw a Jag online with em and I think they looked great. Their amber or yellow in color. I just got this 85 beauty and I gota tell you all, there is no better ride out there.Late 70's and the 80 Jag's have a ride unlike any.
It's good to be here. Thanks all...

Just curious but are yellow high beam lights legal where you live?

Viceroy,

Welcome to the forum. I think you will enjoy the discussions you find here. I don't know about the euro lights, but you might try ebay. There is always something in almost every category for the Series III at any given time, you just have to be creative with the search string you use. I agree with your thoughts about the ride of the XJ6. I was lucky enough to own a low mileage 1986 for a few months before the car met its tragic end in a drainage ditch.... I have always thought that the ride of the Series III was better than the newer Jaguars I have owned and driven, or at least so unique as to be put into a seperate category. Enjoy reading the posts and posting in the forum!

Welcome Viceroy! I used to have a Series II XJ12, and you are right.....they ride like no other!

The lights you refer to may not be available in the USA, as I don't think that they are legal. However, they are mandatory in France, so you might start your search there.

Yellow lights are mandatory in France????
Please tell me you are kidding or spent time over there in the WAR... The yellow headlight thing came about during WWII so people could identify the french from the Germans... And NO they are not required any longer... All new cars today either made in france or imported into france have white headlights.. And if you have ever driven a car with so called "cool looking euro lights in yellow" you will never want to again.. They suck... and are simply NOT bright enough... I have lived in germany for many years and it's been many years since I have seen yellow headlights on anything in france... Older cars.. ~maybe~ It's a french thing.. Like eating a hamburger with an egg on top.. Do yourself a favor and get some high tech xenon bulbs if you want great illumination at night..

Back in the seventies I was planning a road trip over there, and I needed to buy yellow film to cover the headlights on my Spitfire......thought they still were required.

Viceroy,

Sounds like there may be some yellow headlights in France.... while you're there, try the hamburger with the egg on top. I hear it is delicious!

I always have an egg on top of my hamburger. It sets off the salad (including beetroot) really well. The yellow lights were mandatory in '89, the last time I was in France.

I've had one drive of a SIII XJ6 and I am determined to get one for myself one day. I've just fitted XJ6 front seats in my Mark 2. So I've made a start.
