My carbs and manifold came!

Hi JB,
My headers (which are 2 pieces) ran me $227 including the shipping back to me. The turn around time door to door was about a week. I’m sure your manifold would be less. Check their website in my last post to get the phone number. That’s probably the best way to get a price quote. It looks like they also sell new headers for the B. You might want to enquire about that also.

For what it's worth, I highly recommend the SU Carb Video that Moss Motors sells (others probably sell as well). It was definitely key for me to do the job properly when I rebuilt my SU's a few months ago. The section at the end of the video on "tuning" the carbs also really helped me get them set up right.

Of course, your hubby's probably way ahead of me experience wise, and the video costs more than half what you paid for the carbs...oh, well...it was worth it for me! Maybe your local MG club has a "loaner" copy in their library?

Good info! I guess I should have looked here first before posting the question on the Spridget side. I'm looking at a dual SU carburetor set and manifold for my 1500, and was wondering how much of a PITA it will be. Jaybird, hope you have fun with them, and I hope dahubby is still having fun too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
 
As we speak, dahubby is checking out an orphan '73 for $400.

AhHEM, jaybird! Be sure to mention to dahubby the floorpans offered in VickieBrit fit up nicely. Only thing awkward about 'em is they don't have the seat anchors... the solution here was to drill thru the pans after installation, and (because you have a "template" in the other car) measure where to drill the "blind" holes (front ones, hidden by frame crossmember) first, then use the seat rails for locating the back ones. I used "NutSerts" for the actual anchors instead of welding nuts to the pans ahead of time. The Purists will grimmace but my butt stays anchored where it belongs regardless.

Point is: Floorpan(s) replacement is "baby s**t"... and they're good ol' English steel to boot!

Sorry Doc, but the ONLY thing I could think of when I saw that first picture was The Addams Family and "Thing" with your hand coming up through the floor board! Looks great though.
