When asked why I added tri-carbs, shaved and painted the head red, powder coated the suspension, ya-da, ya-da.....THAT is my standard answer.

I'll be dead when the car is sold, so what do I care about preserving it's originality?

It was "original" for it's first 30 years.

The next 30 will be done my way.....

It's been a few years, but last time I made VTR there was a heavily modified TR3 that garnered a whole lot of attention. I think there were more people grouped around it than all the other immaculately restored TR3s put together !

I've always wanted an AC Cobra ... a TR3 Cobra would be even better !
 
I had seen that car before on britishv8. Definitely extremely modified. I think he did a great job and I'll bet it took a whole lot of time and work. It looks simply wild. Really an American twist on a British car. Two thumbs up!

Would I do it? Probably not. Not because I don't like it, but because it becomes a less usable car afterwards. Can't drive it in the rain, and always worried about someone messing with it in a parking lot - just because it attracts attention. I don't personally have use for a race-only car.

EXACTLY! The car was totaled... at least the TR6 lives on in some form... otherwise those parts would be eaten by the tin worms and nothing would be left. I think he did the community a favor. Kids will see that car and want a TR6 and the name will live on. Plus look what he has shown us... a tube fram under the TR6... among other things. These cars will live forever! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

One of mine has a 328 in a Midget.
28" drag slicks on the back, tube frame.
Does that count?
