My Brother-in-law didn't make the cover of Rolling Stone, but...

Before I relate this story, PLEASE do not use this thread to debate the War in Iraq - that is NOT the purpose of this thread. I just wanted to relate some rather interesting and historical information related to my brother-in-law that I only learned about a couple of months ago myself.

My BIL is a Doctor and Full Colonel in the Army Res. He did not make the cover of Rolling Stone, but he did make the cover of Wyoming Medicine. We all knew that Joe had deployed to Iraq "back then" but until recently he was not permitted to discuss what it was he was really doing there - even his immediate family had no clue that my BIL was, in actual fact, Saddam Hussein's physician while Saddam was in US custody.

Joe was not allowed to talk about this until recently and now his story is chronicled in "Wyoming Medicine." Here is a link to the magazine, with Joe's picture on the cover. The article starts on page 16.

That is one of the most interesting stories I've read in years. Thanks for posting the link.

Actually, there are *several* interesting stories in that magazine. And fer peets ache (!), we really do need more physicians in rural areas!

Thanks.

We had no idea that he was doing that until a recently when he was finally allowed to discuss it. Came as a big surprise to the whole family.

Surprise, no doubt. Just told this to th' 'mits. Quite the story, and another example of taking security and that oath seriously! Glad this made it into "the wild." Thanks for posting it.
