My Avitar "Red Ashay Vitesse"

I've had people ask me about the naked lady in my avatar. Believe it or not, this one was a special crystal radiator cap mascot by the French designer *Rene Lalique*, known for his works in crystal. Probably made for the owner of a Dusenberg, SS Jag, or car of that stature.

He made a total of 29 mascot designs. As in every great works of art, fakes are out there, so if you run across what is proposed to be one of his works, have it examined by an expert before dumping down a load of cash. These pieces can go for thousands of dollars, so be careful. Another one I like is;
*The Spirit Of The Wind*
Some believe that this piece influenced the Chief Pontiac design.

"Spirit of the Wind" makes me think there oughta be one akin to "The Fifth Element". :jester:

Re: My Avitar "Red Ashay Vitesse"

so, do you have this? do you collect them?

Have you seen "Midge" the MG Midget hood ornament?

very beautiful by the way.

Doc, I like your input! :jester:

JP, No I don't have one. I believe most of them are either in a museum somewhere or a private collection. Too expensive for me, but I like his precision art work. The mascots are just a part of his lifes work, which I think started back around 1918. PJ
