MGB My 1971 MGB horn

Hi Everyone...been awhile since I posted because I ran out of money to work on this car. Back at it now and, of course, problems right off the bat!!

I'm attaching a photo of my weird horn (obviously removed from it's position). The two white wires on the right are "actually" Purple and Purple/Black. The wire sort of coming over the top is Green and was not hooked to anything except the little motor on the horn that is obviously supposed to run when the horn button is pushed and make air. At this point, when I push the button, I get a solenoid type click but, of course, no motor running. What do I hook the Green wire to? Hope someone can help. Have a GREAT day!

That appears to be an aftermarket air horn, not the original horn. The original horn is actually two horns, one on each side of the car. Look at some photos of engine compartments (or the moss catalog) to figure out what it is supposed to look like. Also, the electrical diagrams in the Bentley manual are very good once you figure out which one is for your car and will tell you what each of those wires should do.

The purple wire is a constant hot, the tracer side is a ground to complete the circuit. With the air horn setup, have the hot leg go to the positive side and the ground "switched" by the horn push.

I chased the wires and the Purple is definitely "hot" but the Purple/Black to the horn button is also "hot" at the horn button AND where it is plugged into the horn switch. This just ccan't be correct...Bentley says Purple/Black to the horn button. I'm still lost. Maybe I better just figure out plan B??

Also, what would hook to the Green on the horn compressor motor?
