Mrs JP and I being all vaccinated and such decided that for the first time since all this started that we would take a holiday. A night at my brothers, two nights in Quebec City and today arrived in Prince Edward Island. PEI has only a population of 157000 yet has had only 218 cases of covid and no deaths. They acted quickly and decisively. This summer they have opened the island to Canadian tourism but you need to provide vaccination proof and get a pass. We weren’t tested coming on to the island but we could have been. All of which is to say it is a Sunday so many classic cars and bikes out but pulled onto the street where we are staying and up the street comes a bugeye. Must be a sign that this is to be a good week.
BTW we are driving the Mini but man are they small if you haven’t seen one in a while!
 
No pics sorry - but we just spent a week in Prince Edward Island. If you know PEI you will know that it has the most gorgeous summers imaginable and 10 feet of snow in the winter. It also has driving roads beyond compare. Apparantly car guys (and gals) have nothing to do all winter but work on theor cars because I have rarely seen so many classic cars in mostly daily use. And some very nice customs and even a robust tuner culture which was unexpected in an island dedicated mostly to Anne of Green Gables and Potatoes. That said what I really want to highlight is the number of VW Westfalia vans we saw there and on the way there and the way back. It is a 17 hour drive. I certainly saw a few dozen.

Kudos to Westfalia owners - A quick glance saws the youngest of these is 30 years old and I saw some bay window ones which are over 40 years old. I would not drive the Midget that distance and not just because of the heat and the size of the car. And yes I know that they are roomier but still. Mark (Abarth69) on this forum took his Healeys to PEI for which I remain in awe and I know others have done big road trips but, what fascinates me about all of this is that the Wesfalia owners are not (to my mind) car people - they are camping people. So, while you no doubt have to acquire some DIY skills it still seems to me a pretty impressive achievement.
