Front brake(s)started squealingand has gotten pretty bad. Worse when hot. I have anti squeal stick on pads-I plan to check out condition tomorrow. Anyone have experience with the "goop" applied to back of pads? I'm assuming this is the typical pad/caliper squeal. Any other thoughts?
 
I needed the goop and shims to stop the squeal in my -7's front brakes.
 
My 73 TR6 started squeling recently. I put the Blue goop on the back of the pads and it seems to have cured it. Hopefully it stays cured. Knock On Wood.
 
We use the goop on all sorts of British cars and it works!!
 
I just let my cars squeal...lets the daydreaming drivers out there know I'm stopping in front of 'em!
 
Take out the pads and wipe both sides of the disks with brake cleaner, ruff-up the pads(lining side) if they look glassy. Slightly sand them with 60 or 80 grit sand paper just to break up any crud they may have absorbed or any crystallizing. Apply additional blue stuff on the back of the pads. I usually get about 1/16" of the blue stuff evenly spread. If the above does not work, you might want to get some new pads.

I used the black and red bottle of goop. The squeal always came back - even after roughing up the surfaces.

the stuff that FINALLY worked for me was the spray-on type of adhesive. It happened too be blue in color.

The official name is "brake grease" or "brake lube." What it is and how it works...

First, disk brake squeal is caused by the pads vibrating at a very high frequency between the caliper piston and the rotor. The "goop" is like a high temperature silicone that you put on the back of the pad. This creates a thin layer of a resilient material between the piston and the pad...and isolates the vibration causing the squeal.
