My car has a exhaust with a 'split' tail pipe on it attached with flex tubing and no muffler. While the exhaust looks pretty nice, it does nothing to reduce the sound. I would like something that's pretty quiet, yet has a decent note to it. Any suggestions?

JC Whitney has a dual glass pack.
Not the single which is very loud.
I am running their dual glass pack on a couple of Sprites, nice sound, not too loud, and for around $30 how can you go wrong?
 
ANSA mufflers
 
Some use Harley Davidson Muffers. You can pick 'em up cheap from Harley stores because the first thing the biker dudes do is swap the stock ones off. .. I've got a "Shorty" in the trunk right now that I'm just waiting for driving weather to come before I swap it on to give it try.
 
Thanks for the replys. I just removed the tailpipe and it has 3 adapters on it. The header is 2", main pipe is 2", and most Harley mufflers are 13/4" from what I've seen. I guess mufflers come in all diameters, shapes and sizes. The Harley ones looked good and for $20 for 2 it sure is cheap. I may try that first just to see what it sounds like since it's so cheap. I will need to get the main pipe bent since it went thru one of those flex adapters prior to the tail pipe
 
After looking on ebay some more I'm very tempted to get the 'fish tail' muffler! For the price I could swap them out for fun! I'll stop by my local Harley store and see if they truly give them away.

Go for the bullet shaped model. It takes several adapters to get to 1 3/4 as stock Spridget tailpipe is I believe 1 1/2". This one will mount easily and has a great sound. Some of the mufflers with baffles removed made Bugsy sound like a rice rocket. This provided a nice even tone that even a dedicated HArley Owner down the street gives me compliments on. This one was a freebie from local Harley ship.

If you use adapters to change size, be sure to have them tack welded together. Either do yourself or a box of donuts at local muffler shop.

Hooey, which ones are they and how much? I'd love to try them out! My exhaust is 2" so I can reduce it down to 1 3/4" for the Harley muffler? Tack weld all joints or can I leave the one between the last adapter and the muffler with a clamp?

Mine isn't bullet shape and I love it - they had fish tail mufflers at the HD store when I got mine (I was tempted)

NAPA <span style="font-weight: bold">17700</span> or <span style="font-weight: bold">17702</span> are another choice.

The MINI folks use them too!

Hey Jim. I am not a purist and " each to his own", of course, but Bugsy's bumperettes are upside down. My bugeye came that way when I got it.
