Just got back into town. What a place that is. Awesome countryside. Mt. Washington was spectacular.

I agree. It's sort of "hallowed ground" in the area - it's a major climbing challenge, partly due to the weather. It can be beautiful at the base but ferocious at the top. It also had the weather station up there - as a kid & young adult I remember Marty Engstrom broadcasting from there. Living at that station was like living at the north pole. I think it still holds the record for the highest winds ever recorded.

Of course there's the "auto road" - for years every other car in New England had a "This car climbed Mount Washington" bumper sticker. And the whole White Mountain area is beautiful.

Did you see the cog railway?

Saw the cog and took the road down. I climbed up with my family. Unbleiveable how things change while I was on there. Started off sunny, then rained & when I got towards the top it was extremely windy. About 3/4" up I hurt my leg but kept going.

There is a sign up there "Worlds windiest place" Record wind ever recorded was 231 MPH.

I grew up in MA, and we used to ride our motorcycles up the mountain, and then coast down, unpowered. That was a a bit scary.. I did the same thing in 89 with my MGB. It took the old girl a bit to get up the mountain, but after letting it cool off at the top for a bit, the ride down was a blast.

Thought about how nice that might be in an MG. I have a Ford Expidition and It'd be a tight sqeeez for it so I opted to climb it. More of a challenge.
