Mr. Clean carwash thing

Does anyone have any experience with these?

I found one on sale, so I went ahead and picked it up, but was curious if anyone knew about them before I opened it.

I know it may be a gadget, but my wife refuses to go through the automatic wash with the top down anymore. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As mentioned in the thread, it's the FILTER inside the Mr Clean unit that is the reason the system works. I have one, and like the results. At the Triumph club meeting tech garage, we installed a nice sized replacable filter in the water system (that can be by-passed when not washing cars), and we got the same results as the Mr Clean device. It's amazing how much stuff (minerals) is in the tap water. I guess that's why it tastes so good. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

I have one also and it does work very good. Actually I am on my second one, the plastic broke by the cartridge on the first and I liked it soooo much that I needed another.

Hmmmm. Water spots don't show up to well on rough paint, so I just windex the glass on keep going. The only car I have that water spots show up on is my toyota....

I really need to start tearing it down this weekend...

...so I have to go buy a Mr. Clean. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Sorry for not doing the search first. I will probably go ahead an tear into the thing, as a flock of black birds found my silver Escort today. It looks like the bottom of a chicken coop. That should just about test out anything.

My biggest concern now is that it is compatible with my lawn. I have fought hard for the few patches of green I have and would hate to repoison them after all the work.

Kenny,

I would reccomend going and getting the thing. It isn't a detailing by any means, and my silver Escort doesn't show spots,so I can't speak to that. But it is quicker and easier.

I tried it out. It worked but found too many things I didn't like. The soap would cause the dirt to attach to the soft brush that I use for washing. The brush would end up with black gunk on the bristles that was next to impossible to remove. The water softener cartridges don't last too long (we have very hard water) so it got expensive replacing cartridges. Often there were areas of water that remained so you ended up using a towel to finish. Speed .. I found that it took longer to use the system than to wash the car with a brush/bucket and then dry with a couple towels. So, I ended up returning it.

Cheers,
John

I got one early last year and used it on my Saturns. I noticed the clear coat is coming off on both cars. Never noticed a problem before that.
I use it on my TR6 a few times a week and I really like it. No problems there but themn the paint is enamal.

Wow interesting Tom.

I alsmost bought one over the weekend, but the part that screws to the hose is still plastic and that is what went on my last two.

I haven't seen a problem with the clearcoat on my car, but will stay away.

Thanks again
